Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU) is the oldest Russian institution of higher technical education training architects and civil engineers. The University was founded on May 9, 1832. SPbGASU today is a major educational and scientific center, the only university in the North-West Federal District of the Russian Federation that provides comprehensive training for specialists in the fields of civil engineering, architecture, transport and environmental-engineering systems. The University has long-standing professional and pedagogical traditions and constantly updates educational technologies, subjects and methods of scientific research. Throughout its history more than 70 thousand experts graduated from SPbGASU, among them over 2.5 thousand from 70 foreign countries. SPbGASU currently hosts about 13000 students, including over 1000 foreign citizens. The SPbGASU alumni have made a significant contribution to solving urban planning and construction tasks in Russia and other countries. Their work and talent over the years created many public and residential buildings and facilities in Saint Petersburg and all over the country as well as abroad. Graduates of the University are engaged in all major construction projects in Russia and many foreign countries, in the work of design and research institutes representing their alma mater.
